Mabon Ritual for the Beginner Witch
Mabon Ritual for the Beginner Witch
Hey Witch Babes!
Mabon is the second harvest of the year and a time for expressing gratitude for all of the blessings in life. It is a time of plenty and abundance, not just for food, but in other aspects of life as well. This year, Mabon is Wednesday, September 22nd, 2018.
As Autumn is welcomed on this sabbat, day and night are of equal lengths; Nature is in balance. It is time to appreciate the light and the dark aspects of life, and to appreciate the sacrifice of our God through the harvesting of the crops. It is through His sacrifice that we may live through the Dark half of the Wheel. Our God now awaits rebirth within the womb of our Goddess.

Mabon Ritual
There are many ways to celebrate Mabon, from having a great feast with family and friends and making your own wine, to harvesting apples and simply counting your blessings. Here I have written a ritual for Mabon that will focus on giving thanks for our blessings and includes a spell to bring balance and harmony into your life. Feel free to edit this ritual to suit your own needs.
- Cleanse area of negative energies
- Cast your Circle
- Call the Quarters
- Invite the God and Goddess (or Deity(ies) of your choosing)
- Take a few moments to think about the blessings in your life. Give thanks, either aloud or in your head; if you are in a group, feel free to go around the circle and have everyone share what they are thankful for.
- Cast a spell for balance. Here is an example spell. Feel free to write your own.
-
As Autumn brings balance to night and day,
Let there be balance between work and play.
May we live our lives harmoniously
And in tune with Nature’s melody.
As Sun is to Moon
And midnight is to noon,
Let there be balance in all that we do.
May we know our inner light, and our inner darkness, too.
As I will it, so mote it be! - If you do not want to cast a spell for balance, you can try writing a blessing. Here is an example:
-
During this time of abundance and plenty,
I send my love and blessings to my family.
May you be blessed by the Lord and the Lady
With Their Love and Light embracing thee.
Blessed be!
- Cakes and Ale
- Thank the God and Goddess (Or Deity(ies) of your choosing)
- Thank the Quarters
- Release the Circle
- Ground
I hope you enjoy this ritual. Have a blessed Mabon!
